Sam plummeted/fell/crashed to the ground with a loud/sharp/painful thud/sound/crash.

His New Friend

Sam was experiencing a little sad. He wished to have a new buddy to play with. One day, while he was exploring in the park, he saw something different. It was a little creature with bright feathers. Sam carefully approached the creature and spoke, "Hello! What's your name?" The creature grinned and answered Sam, "I'm Lily!" And so, Sam made a new friend. They spent the rest of the day playing together.

Sam was so happy to have found a new friend. He knew that he and Lily would be great pals forever.
